SWAT standoff ends; man not in house
A SWAT standoff ended Saturday night at a Miami Beach home after a domestic dispute.
The area surrounding 2474 Prairie Avenue was blocked off after the standoff began Saturday morning.
A man who Miami Beach police believed was barricaded inside his home was not inside when they entered.
Officers were called out to the domestic dispute between a married couple about 9:30 a.m.
The wife called 911 and said she was injured, said police.
After she got her three children out of the house, her husband locked himself inside. She told officers he has several weapons.
The wife's condition was not immediately released.
Police said the couple had been married for four years.
Neighbor Carlos Winticky thought the couple was happily married, and said he had never heard of any issues between them in the past.
Winticky's home was used as the headquarters for the SWAT team during the standoff Saturday.
"It was strange to see them in my bedroom with all those guns," said Winticky.
